Hello future au-pairs,

Now I live in my family in a suburb of Sydney for 4 weeks. And it is really great. My family treat me like their own daughter. And I can speak about every problem with my family. For example they helped me to find some sport which I can practise at my free time.

They have 2 girls at the age of 7 and 9 years. My work includes making the girls ready for school, bringing and picking them up from school and go with them to their afternoon activities and after that we play together at home. At the evening I take them a shower. During the kids are at school, I do the washing of the kids, vacuum the kitchen and dining room and tidy up the staff of the girls.

At the beginning it was difficult, because it was a strange language and I didn’t understand everything. But you learn the language very fast. Besides the girls tried how far they can go. But now they know where the borders are and we understand us really good. At the last holidays we were together in the Aquarium and in the cinema, it was really good.

At my free time I’m every time welcome to go out with them. But they also respect my privacy and if I want to do something on my own it’s okay, too. Often I go out with some other au-pairs and it’s very easy to make friends with other au pairs. We go every weekend to Sydney and then we go shopping, make sightseeing or go to some pubs.

Last but not least a tip for you, bring a nearly empty suitcase (towels and stuff you will get from the family), because the cloths are much cheaper than in Germany and you will buy a lot.

The Organization here in Sydney is really great. So far they helped me out a lot with everything what I want to know. At first they helped me to apply for my tax file number. It was much easier to fill out the formulary with someone who exactly knows what to do. If I couldn’t have their help I think it might be much more difficult with these official documents. They also helped me a lot with creating my CV. When I have a problem there is always a person to whom I can refer to such as asking for going to a doctor. I got a problem with bad bugs and they found out a very nice doctor to help me solving these problem.

The service of this organization such as free internet, a membership card, Vodafone telephone card and much more is fantastic. All the staff members are happy to help you in every situation and this is amazing. I also got a very good advice to open a bank account here. I can highly recommend this great place and I hope the next people who are coming to Sydney would have the same opinion like me.
